Hello third grader, and welcome to your new language arts curriculum! I'm super excited to get started on some of these units, so let's go!
Just like in Accelerate, we will follow a routine to help us get going each morning. Your to-do list will go something like this each day (except Wednesday, of course :)):
- Write the Date
- Violin Practice
- Handwriting
- Spelling Practice
- Our Special Unit from Your Binder
Then you will want to take a break - probably until after lunch, just like with Accelerate!

Our first study is going to be a book called "A Wrinkle in Time." In your pink binder, you have a new section labeled 'novel.' Here you will find all the activities and instructions you need each day. This is how it will work:
- You may read ahead as much as you want, no need to wait until you have done the work for every chapter before you move on.
- If you do read ahead, there is one question you must stop and answer before you begin each chapter. This is the 'before you read' question, and I will mark those pages in your binder with a paper clip so they are easy to find quickly. Then you may read on.
- Reading time will be any time you want throughout the day. If you have already done all the work for everything you've read at the beginning of a school day, then you will read a chapter before you get started in your binder that morning.
- Each day you will spend about 30-40 minutes working on the pages from your binder. Just begin each day where you left off and work until you run out of time. As long as you are giving your best effort, I will not worry about how much you accomplish each day, just that you are putting thought and all that wonderful creative talent of yours into your work!
- I will have little notes written in for each activity to help you get started, but if you need help - just hollar! You won't be assigned every item on every page. I have marked some sections as optional, and in some sections I've asked you to choose from the suggestions.
I love you, and hope this turns out to be as pleasant as I think it will!
